Football - Wilder hails Worley

Oxford boss Chris Wilder was full of praise for central defender Harry Worley after his late goal earned his injury-hit side a point in a 1-1 draw at Morecambe.

Worley was thrown up front with seven minutes to go and repaid his boss with a goal to cancel out Kevin Ellison's 78th-minute opener.

Wilder said: "I'm delighted for Harry because he has shown a great attitude after not being in the side for the last few weeks. We are short of numbers and he is always an option to go up front and we worked on his finishing at training on Friday and it paid off.

"In the end it was a good point for us and one I think everyone will say we deserved.

"We came into this game with a positive attitude and always looked to be on the front foot. We certainly started the game the better and had a couple of decent chances but unfortunately didn't take them and the game was always going to be even.

"I never really felt under threat because we were always in the game and when they scored from a corner it could have floored us.

"But I have to give the lads credit because they battled on and fought their way back into the game and Alfie Potter did superbly to tee-up Harry for the goal."
