Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga has all but confirmed his imminent summer exit from Emirates Stadium. The Belgium international has endured a challenging three years in north London with two loan moves arriving after he made 39 senior appearances for the Gunners.

A six-month spell at Crystal Palace in the 2022/23 campaign saw Lokonga continue to struggle for minutes, however the following season his temporary stint at Luton Town was far more successful. Injury saw his campaign curtailed at Kenilworth Road but his displays were certainly enough to attract interest in acquiring his services.

With Arsenal keen to sell, as his contract expires in 2025, Sevilla want to bring him on board for the 2024/25 campaign. While the Gunners wanted a permanent departure to be sealed now, the Spanish club preferred a loan deal with a buy-option for the following summer.

Given that Arsenal do not exactly hold any advantage, it looks as though the latter deal is what will occur. Because of that, exit confirmation from the Gunners could arrive in the coming days however it looks as though Lokonga may have beaten them to it.

In his latest Instagram post, accompanied with some pictures of the 24-year-old training individually, he wrote: "Preparing for what’s next."

Having signed Lokonga from Anderlecht for a fee in the region of £17million, Arsenal will be hoping to recoup as much of that as possible from Sevilla. Though the intricacies of the potential mandatory buy-option are still to be decided, £10million has been revealed as the potential value.

With Lokonga likely to be joined by Thomas Partey as a midfielder being moved on, Arsenal signing a midfielder is a priority for Arteta this summer, as football.london has previously reported. Real Sociedad duo Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino have been linked with Everton's Amadou Onana and AS Monaco's Youssouf Fofana other options.
