Forgotten Chelsea man still pursued by Euro giants, with Tottenham asset on the radar as well
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is reportedly ‘still an option’ for Inter Milan, while Tottenham man Japhet Tanganga has also ‘been evaluated’ for a move.
Chelsea have so far seen 12 players leave permanently this summer. While some of those were able to walk away for free at the end of their respective contracts, eight have been sold.
With the amount of players the Blues have signed over the past three transfer windows, sales were required to keep in line with Financial FairPlay regulations. Another permanent exit could soon come, too.
Centre-back Chalobah was reportedly told at the beginning of August that he’d be allowed to leave. That’s amid European interest, of which there is apparently ‘no shortage’.
One side on the continent who’s been keen to sign the defender throughout the transfer window is Inter Milan. They’ve been linked with him consistently, and journalist Alfredo Pedulla states he ‘remains an option’.
Indeed, Inter have not given up on the signing, despite the fact there are other names on the list. Takehiro Tomiyasu is mentioned, though it’s said he is not considered ‘transferable’ by Arsenal.
Tottenham centre-back Tanganga has ‘been evaluated’ regarding a move. Whether or not Inter have maintained their interest after evaluating him remains to be seen.
Chalobah, though, definitively ‘remains on the list’ and Chelsea may be even more open to selling after apparently telling him he could leave, given more expensive stars have walked through the door since, and will continue to do so – Romeo Lavia next.
Chalobah was also forgotten in the Premier League opener against Liverpool. Three centre-backs were used from the start: Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva and Levi Colwill.
Chalobah was not even named as a substitute, and if that continues, he’ll be looking for a way out of Stamford Bridge. Chelsea therefore, might well accept an offer from Inter, depending on its worth.
Indeed, the centre-back signed a long-term contract extension last year, so they’re not likely to accept a low offer, knowing that makes him worth a decent sum.
A lot of things point to the fact that he’ll be allowed to leave the club if the right offer does come in, though.
