The 45-year-old has been out of the game since May this year when he stepped down as Stirling Albion boss, following the Binos' relegation to League Two in the play-offs.
Young - who has won League Two titles as a manager with Albion Rovers and Stirling - will now be charged with guiding Clyde off the bottom of League Two. The Bully Wee are a point adrift of Forfar and have won just once in 10 league games this season.
The Cambslang man could be in post in time to take charge of Clyde for this weekend's trip to Elgin City in the second round of the Scottish Cup.
