Former Hull FC head coach Peter Gentle has been promoted to a new role at NRL outfit Manly Sea Eagles. The former Black and Whites boss has been with the North Sydney-based club since 2023, with Anthony Seibold revamping his performance and coaching staff this off-season.

Gentle has been in a recruitment manager role for the last two seasons. However, he has now been promoted to a new role titled 'Head of Football and Recruitment.'

The 59-year-old took charge of Hull during the 2012 and 2013 seasons and led the Airlie Birds to two sixth-place finishes in a 14-team competition. Either side of his time in England, he has worked at several NRL clubs as assistant coach, including Parramatta Eels, Wests Tigers, Cronulla Sharks, South Sydney Rabbitohs, and Brisbane Broncos, where he took an interim role as head coach in 2020. He has also worked at St George Illawarra Dragons before his Manly move and has spent time with the Australia and Italy national sides.

Meanwhile, Jon Clarke, who was appointed this autumn in a head of performance consultancy role at Hull, is also on the staff at Manly as Head of Performance. Clark will combine the two roles throughout 2025 and started pre-season training at Hull, putting a programme together with the likes of John Cartwright, Richie Myler, and Tom Bennett.

Elsewhere, Seibold's staff are made up of Steve Murphy, a long-serving assistant at Parramatta, and Henry Mander, who has worked with the England men's side in rugby union.
