Former Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has made claims that Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is as good as former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez.
Pardew, speaking on Monday Night Football, insisted that Lallana was up there with the top players in terms of his technical ability and his close control in tight areas of the pitch. He claims that Lallana is up there with some of the most technical players in the world.
Pardew said: “He has fantastic technical ability in tight areas. You associate that with Italian and Brazilian players."
The 28-year-old started his career at Southampton, a club he went on to captain. His performances for the Saints earned him a big money move to Anfield in 2014 and now is an important player for Jurgen Klopp and the future of Liverpool.
A thigh injury has kept the midfielder sidelined for the last five weeks, but made a big impact in the 1-0 victory against Watford, after coming on early in the game for the injured Philippe Coutinho.
Pardew went on to say that Lallana is one of the best players he's ever worked with during his managerial career.
He said: "Lallana is as good as any player I’ve worked with. I include in that Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano. He has got the technical ability of those guys in small areas.”
