Former Premier League star claims Leicester goalkeeper is not 'in the same league' as David de Gea

It looks set to be another turbulent summer for Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea who is being targeted once again by Spanish club Real Madrid.

The next question is if David de Gea does leave Old Trafford, who should be signed to replace him?

United legend Peter Schmeichel's son Kasper? Both are Premier League champions after all.

Well, according to  The Sports Review and, former United player Lee Sharpe does not agree:

“Kasper Schmeichel has really impressed me the past couple of seasons but De Gea is in a different league.”

Sharpe was lucky enough to play with the legendary Peter and it would be rather poetic to see Kasper Schmeichel playing for United 20 years after his dad.

However, if the United board share the same opinion as Sharpe then the move will not happen.

This is of course if De Gea leaves United in the first place, but if reports are true then this could be a possibility.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has targeted De Gea as the man he wants between the posts for next season as he aims to bolster his goalkeeping options.

The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper has made his name as one of the best shot-stoppers in the league since joining United nearly six years ago.

However, he nearly joined the Spanish giants back in the summer of 2015, but after a supposed fax machine malfunction the move scuppered.
