The Mercedes Formula 1 driver has agreed to join a panel that will help judge a selection of short films being made to highlight the '10 Golden Rules for Safety Motoring.'

With road accidents being the single biggest killer among 16-24 years olds, Hamilton has agreed to support the FIA-backed campaign.

Teams of youngsters from schools, colleges and universities are being asked to create a short film that highlights road safety.

The winners, who are battling for a £2000 prize for their educational establishment, will be announced during the British GP weekend - with the films being broadcast on Sky's F1 coverage.

Ben Taylor, MSA director of development and communications, said: "This competition provides an exciting opportunity to engage with young people in a very practical way and creates a fun but educational approach to the road safety message through the medium of motorsport."

Further details about the road safety campaign can be found on the MSA website.
