Four-game ban for Warrington's Westwood

Ben Westwood will not play again this month after pleading guilty to striking Leeds Rhinos' Liam Sutcliffe.

Warrington Wolves will be without Ben Westwood for four matches after the forward was banned for striking Liam Sutcliffe Westwood in the Super League win over Leeds Rhinos last week.

Westwood was only shown a yellow card for a late hit on the Rhinos half-back just a minute into Warrington's 25-14 victory at the Halliwell Jones Stadium last Friday.

While Westwood was able to return to the field following a spell in the sin bin, Sutcliffe's suffered concussion and could not continue.

Back-rower Westwood appeared before an independent disciplinary committee on Tuesday and was hit with a four-match ban, as well as a £300 fine, after pleading guilty to a Grade D charge.

He will miss the Super League games against Widnes Vikings, Huddersfield Giants, Wakefield Trinity and Hull FC.
