Four-way tie at LGPA Classic

Four women were tied for the lead after the first round of the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic in Alabama.

Jennifer Rosales, Katie Futcher, Lindsay Wright and Caroline Hedwall led the way at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail's Magnolia Grove complex with 5-under 67s.

Filipino Rosales birdied five of the first seven holes on the back nine after having a birdie and a bogey on the front nine.

"Today was an easy day for me," Rosales said. "I hit most of the fairways and greens. I only missed, I think, a (one) green today. My putting was very good today."

American Futcher was in front at 6-under after 17 holes but a bogey on the par-4 ninth dashed her hopes of ending the day with the outright lead.

Australian Wright, who won the New Zealand Women's Open in February, and Sweden's Hedwall had bogey-free rounds.

"It feels like it's kind of target golf and I like that," Hedwall said. "I enjoy just hitting it... I like that and I think I did that well today.

"Just everything feels good, and hopefully I can play as well for the rest of the week."

Sun Young Yoo was a shot behind the leaders along with Stacy Lewis, Morgan Pressel, Mariajo Uribe, Sydnee Michaels, Cindy LaCrosse, Haeji Kang and Mi Jung Hur.
