Fox Rules Sunday Ratings With Tom Brady-Drew Brees NFL Playoff Matchup; ‘Batwoman’ Season 2 Premiere Ticks Down

Fox dominated Sunday ratings with the NFC Divisional Playoff game between Tampa Bay and New Orleans, which earned an 8.0 in the adults 18-49 demographic while a staggering 28.8 million viewers tuned in to watch the Buccaneers defeat the Saints 30-20 to advance to the NFC Championship.

The possibly final matchup between future Hall of Fame quarterbacks Tom Brady and Drew Brees — the latter is rumored to be retiring — was the top-rated telecast of the weekend and the top-rated NFL broadcast since Super Bowl LIV in February. It drew a 21.2/39 overnight rating, Fox said today.

The game was a solid lead-in to Fox’s freshman animated series The Great North, which skyrocketed to a 2.6 in the demo and netted 8.42 million viewers since its premiere. Family Guy also saw a surge since its last fresh episode, delivering a 1.1 in the demo and 3.34. These fast-affiliate numbers are preliminary and likely will be adjusted in finals.

The CW debuted the second season of Batwoman with Javicia Leslie donning the cape and cowl. The superhero series ticked down a tenth in ratings from its freshman season finale earning a 0.1 in the demo and 663,000 viewers.

At CBS, 60 Minutes (1.1, 10.24M) stumbled in the demo and it was the same story for NCIS: Los Angeles (0.6, 5.38M) which dipped a tenth from last week. NCIS: New Orleans (0.5, 4.94M) was steady.

ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos (0.5, 4.02M) and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (0.4, 2.69M) both ticked down in the demo. The night ended with The Rookie (0.4, 3.61M) which was on par with last week.

NBC aired reruns of Weakest Link, The Wall and American Ninja Warrior.
