Catalans Dragons centre Arthur Romano has signed a new extended 12-month contract with the Super League outfit.

Romano, 25, first joined the club’s academy in 2015 from Carpentras. To date, he has made 33 appearances since his professional debut in 2017.

He was ruled out of the entire 2021 season due to a serious knee injury.

The outside-back made his France debut earlier this year in the mid-season friendly against Wales as preparations for the World Cup. He also featured in the World Cup 9s in 2019 for France, making three appearances.

He said: “I am very happy to extend my contract with the Dragons. I thank the staff and the club for trusting me.

“I will continue to work hard and give everything to reach the club’s objective next season!”

Head coach Steve McNamara: “Arthur is a hard-working young man who is continually improving and epitomizes the person and player we want at the Dragons.”

Catalans Dragons confirm departures of nine players

The club has confirmed nine departures at the conclusion of the 2022 Super League campaign. Dean Whare, Benjamin Jullien and Samisoni Langi headline the list when their contracts expire in November.

It has already been confirmed front-rowers Sam Kasiano and Gil Dudson will join Warrington from next season on two-year deals.

Joe Chan will link up with NRL side Melbourne Storm on a two-year contract from 2023. The 20-year-old forward has made 29 appearances for Catalans.

Finally, Catalans will bid farewell to three academy products – Corentin Le Cam, Mathieu Cozza and Romain Franco.
