Frank Lampard hints at dream next job after Chelsea disappointment
Chelsea legend and former manager Frank Lampard has hinted his dream next job would be to move into the England set-up as a coach.
Lampard has been out of work since the summer of 2023 after his caretaker stint at Chelsea came to an end. The 46-year-old was asked to take temporary charge for 11 matches after Graham Potter was sacked by Todd Boehly.
It would be his second spell in the dugout for the Blues having previously managed the club between July 2019 and January 2021. However, this return to Stamford Bridge was highly disappointing as he recorded just one victory before stepping aside for Mauricio Pochettino.
Since then, Lampard has been working as a pundit most recently for Amazon Prime's Champions League coverage. However, a return to coaching appears to be on the radar for the former midfielder and working for the national team is the goal.
Appearing on The Sports Agents podcast, Lampard said: "As an English player who played 100-plus times, and an English person who's very proud – of course, the England set up is something... I never dreamed of playing as many times for England, let alone now as a coach.
"So, now as a coach, you know, I think I would be crazy to sort of say, ‘Oh no, that would never interest me.’ It would have to be something that they would want me to do, and have to be something that I want to do and thought I could add value to it in any way."

England are currently without a manager since Gareth Southgate resigned at the end of the European Championships. Lee Carsley is the favourite to succeed Southgate and is currently in temporary charge of the Three Lions.
Lampard's former teammate Ashley Cole recently quit his role in Birmingham City's backroom staff to fully focus on working with the England squad and assisting Carsley.
