Frank Lampard shuts down Leeds United gestures question as Derby County rivalry still lingers
Coventry boss Frank Lampard refused to answer a question about his reaction to Leeds United fans after their 2-0 defeat last night.
Lampard appeared to make two gestures to the away support who had been chanting about the Sky Blues boss having cupped his ears and then outstretched his fist.
His history with Leeds stretches all the way back to his time in charge of Derby County and the 2018/19 season in which the clubs shared a spiky rivalry. Lampard led the Rams to a memorable 4-2 play-off victory at Elland Road that campaign, booking a place at Wembley in a season that was also remembered for the Spygate controversy.

Then-Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa allegedly sent a coach to snoop on the Rams' training sessions which only served to heighten tension between the clubs. Some Leeds fans in Coventry's away end claimed Lampard had referenced the triumph at Elland Road with a '4-2' gesture.
But asked about it in the aftermath of the Sky Blues' defeat, Lampard said: "I don't want to talk about that."
Still Lampard shovelled praise for Leeds' quality as Daniel Farke's side continued to take another stride towards Premier League football and now sit five points clear at the top.
"They're a strong team," Lampard added. "They're top of the league for a reason. Lots of talent, lots of speed, well coached, good team.
"Premier League experience and I'm really impressed with them. Sometimes you have to praise a team that comes here and does well. There's other teams up there but they're in with a great chance."
