French report claims £21m West Ham signing is done as Moyes prepares to unleash new strike pairing
A report from France claims that a top West Ham target has officially left his current club and joined the Hammers in a £21million deal.
London Stadium chief David Moyes has made bringing in more attacking options to his squad in January the main priority, with Danny Ings already arriving from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.
Ings made his debut from the bench on Saturday as West Ham got back to winning ways in the league with a 2-0 victory over fellow strugglers Everton.
However, Moyes still wants more firepower and it appears that Lorient star Terem Moffi is now a Hammer.
That’s according to French publication Mercato Plein, who claims that a €24m (£21m) transfer is now done.
Moyes has been chasing Moffi for a few weeks now. However, it was thought that the two clubs could not get on the same page over the fee.
But Mercato Plein states that a deal has been struck and that Moffi closing in on a move to London. The report even states that the Nigeria international has penned a deal until 2026.
The 23-year-old has made a big impression at Lorient this season, scoring 12 times in 18 Ligue 1 outings so far.
Moffi arrival points to potential Antonio exit
He possesses the pace and power that once made Michail Antonio such a threat, so there have to be doubts over what the future holds for the 32-year-old if and when Moffi does arrive at the London Stadium.
Antonio started the win over Everton on Saturday but was eventually replaced by Ings as Jarrod Bowen notched a brace to seal a huge three points for the Hammers.
The former Reading and Forest striker has only notched five times in 25 games in all competitions this season. To that end, the arrival of Ings and Moffi, to add to Gianluca Scamacca as a forward option for Moyes, could see Antonio being offloaded.
The Hammers are back in action on January 30 when they take on Derby in the FA Cup 4th round.
