The 39-man field set to assemble at Kapalua's Plantation Course from January 5-8 has been finalised, featuring no less than 17 of the world's top 20 players. Only players who won a tournament in 2022, plus players who cracked the top 30 in the FedEx Cup playoffs, are eligible for the field. That includes recent major championship winners Scottie Scheffler, Matt Fitzpatrick and Justin Thomas, who will be joined by the likes of Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth. One notable absentee however is the world's top-ranked player, Rory McIlroy. While the Tournament of Champions represents the first of the year's 13 "elevated events" on the PGA Tour, a player is allowed to sit out one of the 13 events of his choice. As it happens, this is the event that McIlroy is choosing to sit out. He has only played the Sentry once in his career, finishing tied for fourth in 2019. McIlroy didn't play his first event of 2022 until the Genesis Invitational in mid-February. Also absent from the field is reigning Open champion Cam Smith, who joined LIV Golf shortly after winning his first major trophy and is no longer a member of the PGA Tour. Here's a rundown of all the players set to tee up in Kapalua, in alphabetical order: Keegan Bradley Ryan Brehm Sam Burns Patrick Cantlay Corey Conners Tony Finau Matt Fitzpatrick Brian Harman Russell Henley Tom Hoge Max Homa Billy Horschel Viktor Hovland Mackenzie Hughes Sungjae Im Tom Kim KH Lee Luke List Hideki Matsuyama Collin Morikawa Trey Mullinax JT Poston Seamus Power Jon Rahm Chad Ramey Chez Reavie Xander Schauffele Scottie Scheffler Adam Scott JJ Spaun Jordan Spieth Scott Stallings Sepp Straka Adam Svensson Sahith Theegala Justin Thomas Aaron Wise Cameron Young Will Zalatoris
