Liverpool return to Premier League action this afternoon when they take on Brentford at Anfield. However, the Reds are already being forced to deal with some injury concerns in the early weeks of the season.

Arne Slot will step foot in the Anfield dugout for the first time in a competitive fixture since being named Liverpool's head coach during the summer. The Reds face Brentford today, looking to follow their victory over Ipswich Town on the opening day with another three points.

Slot may have to deal with an injury to Jarell Quansah for the clash against the Bees. The Liverpool boss confirmed during his press conference on Friday afternoon that Quansah had sustained an injury during the week and is a doubt for Sunday's fixture.

"He [Quansah] reacted in the way you would expect," Slot told reporters on Friday. "We spoke to him after the game and then after on Sunday, he asked if he could train.

"On Tuesday he picked up a bit of an injury and couldn't train Wednesday, let's see today [Friday].

"I don't think there is too much into it but maybe the language was an issue, I said he did not lose every duel and it has been said that I said he lost every duel. I said to the team the day after the team didn't do well [first half vs Ipswich], it was not about Jarell."

It remains to be seen if Quansah will recover in time to feature against Brentford. Liverpool have further options at centre-back including Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Nat Phillips.
