Fuller at top of long list of Maiden Basketball award winners

Mar. 22—If Tia Fuller's last two years of Jacksonville Fightin' Maiden basketball are anything close to her first two, Jacksonville fans are in for a real treat.

Fuller, a sophomore, has been named as a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region III team member.

Previously Fuller had garnered District 18-4A Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

Other superlative award winners at the district level from Jacksonville included junior Trunijah Butler, Defensive Player of the Year and Sharae Schmitt, Co-Coach of the Year.

Maidens Kiah Cox and KayLee Boyd were first team representatives.

Marquicia Robertson was voted onto the circuit's second team.

Honorable mention choices from Jacksonville were: Martina Lopez-Perez, Sa'Kiya Anderson and Ashuntee Donnell.

The 2023-24 team posted a 26-11 record and advanced to the Area round of the Class 4A state playoffs.

Another high point of the season was the team achieving a 3.7 team grade point average.
