The representatives of Gabriel Jesus are said to be travelling to England to orchestrate his transfer to Arsenal, whose wage offer to the striker has been revealed.

Jesus is a top target for Arsenal this summer as they look to replace the void left up front by the exits of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the winter and Alexandre Lacazette in the summer. Eddie Nketiah has extended his contract, but they need another option.

Entering the final year of his contract with Manchester City, Jesus could be available. A move to Arsenal would reunite him with former City assistant manager, Mikel Arteta.

There have been worries about competition from north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the Jesus transfer. However, the Evening Standard indicated on Tuesday that confidence was growing for Arsenal.

They revealed that Jesus’ representatives were on their way to England to “wrap up” the transfer. City are hoping to gain £50m from the deal.

It has since been revealed how much Jesus may earn as an Arsenal player. According to journalist Nabil Djellit, who contributes for the likes of France Football and L’Equipe, the Gunners are offering him a “monstrous” salary.

Arsenal would be willing to pay Jesus €16m per year to sign for them. In other words, he would be earning around £265,000 per week.

What’s more, if they qualify for the Champions League, Arsenal would top it up with a €1m (around £860,000) bonus.

Arsenal must remain realistic for Gabriel Jesus and other new signings

Those figures do seem high, even if it has been reported that Arsenal are willing to increase what he currently earns at Man City.

Willing to make him a key man, it is easy to see why Arsenal may want to invest in him. They would be showing him their confidence.

But previous big packages for the likes of Aubameyang backfired. Perhaps it would be more realistic to offer a lower salary than what Djellit has reported.

Still, Jesus could be the man to lead the line at the Emirates Stadium, so his entourage will hope to make good progress on the deal while in the country.
