The prospect of Arsenal losing Gabriel Magalhaes to Juventus is growing and a report has revealed which midfielder could be included to sweeten the deal.

The Brazilian centre-back, 24, formed a superb partnership with Ben White last year. William Saliba will hope to disrupt the pairing with the Frenchman odds on to remain at the Emirates this season.

However, Gabriel’s place in the starting eleven looks more assured than White’s, meaning a late sale this summer would be a bitter pill to swallow.

However, according to the Independent, that is exactly what could be about to happen.

Juventus are the primary suitor seeking to bring Gabriel on board. The outlet claims a deal could be possible if Juve match Arsenal’s asking price, expected to be set north of £50m.

What’s more, four factors aiding the Turin club’s cause are detailed.

Firstly, Chelsea’s imminent move for Kalidou Koulibaly is cited. Juventus are on the hunt for a centre-back addition in anticipation of Matthijs de Ligt moving to Bayern Munich.

Koulibaly was in their crosshairs, though Napoli refused to sell to a Serie A rival, much to Chelsea’s delight.

With Koulibaly off the table, Juventus have shifted their focus to Gabriel.

Brazilian open to leaving

Secondly, the player is reportedly open to making the move to the Italian heavyweight. While not explicitly stated, their presence in the Champions League is likely a factor.

Furthermore, Juventus believe their strong relationship with Arsenal and the fact the Gunners now have depth at centre-half through Saliba will make Mikel Arteta’s side more receptive to a sale.

It’s noted Arsenal may sever ties if their full valuation is bid. Whether Juventus can stump up £50m+ for one signing remains to be seen, which explains why they could attempt to include Adrien Rabiot as bait.

Arsenal are searching for depth in central midfield with Youri Tielemans and Oleksandr Zinchenko on their radar. Zinchenko plays primarily in midfield for Ukraine.

However, Juventus hope to dangle the Rabiot carrot and the Frenchman’s name has reportedly already been discussed.

Rabiot has fallen out of favour in Turin in recent times. Though at 27 and with 29 caps for France in his locker, would represent a readymade addition to Arteta’s side.

Arsenal must not lose Gabriel Magalhaes

The Brazilian is Arsenal’s only left-footed centre-half and selling him would leave a huge void in Arsenal’s back-line.

What’s more, part of Arsenal’s reasoning for targeting Lisandro Martinez was the fact he is left-footed and could provide cover in central areas.

Losing Gabriel would therefore put Arsenal back in the market with under three weeks to go until the new campaign begins.

What’s more, the number of elite, left-sided centre-halves on the market is dwindling.

Martinez is bound for Man Utd, while Chelsea are in talks for Presnel Kimpembe after their Nathan Ake move collapsed. RB Leipzig won’t sell Josko Gvardiol this summer. That leaves Pau Torres as one of only a handful of viable targets remaining.

As such, Arsenal must do all they can to resist Juventus’ advances.
