BBC has acquired the distribution rights for the TV adaptation of Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire.

Premiered in October last year in the US, the series developed by Rolin Jones for AMC is coming to the UK soon, where it will air on BBC Two and be available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

An adaptation of Rice's 1976 novel, previously adapted for the big screen in 1994, the series follows Louis de Pointe du Lac (Game of Thrones's Jacob Anderson), Lestat de Lioncourt (The Newsreader's Sam Reid) and Claudia (Avatar: The Way of Water's Bailey Bass), three vampires looking back on their complicated dynamic for an interview with journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian).

A Black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis caves to Lestat's offer of immortality and joins him as his vampire companion. But Lestat introducing his newest fledgling, child vampire Claudia, sets them on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement.

"Interview with the Vampire is a sumptuous, sensual, complex and disturbing treat," Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition said in a statement.

"Anchored by the charismatic lead performances of Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid, the series stays true to the gothic spirit of Anne Rice's eternally popular novels, whilst sympathetically re-imagining her world for a new generation."

Ahead of the first season being released in the US last year, Interview with the Vampire was renewed for a second instalment.

A first trailer for this new chapter dropped in July, sharing a first look at actress Delainey Hayles, who will step in to replace Bass as Claudia.

Interview with the Vampire airs on AMC and AMC+ in the US. In the UK, it will air on BBC Two and be available on BBC iPlayer, though a release date is yet to be confirmed.
