Gareth Southgate was delighted to see Ben Chilwell score his first England goal after a difficult summer and start to the season.

The Chelsea defender opened the scoring as England put five past Andorra having initially not even been named in the squad by Southgate.

Chilwell did not play a minute of football at Euro 2020 over the summer and has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea since the start of the new season. The full-back was only brought into this England squad after Reece James withdrew injured.

Southgate was pleased to see him on the up after a difficult few months.

"There were some nice moments, for Chilly (Chilwell) to get a goal after having such a tough time in the summer with us, I'm really pleased for him," Southgate told ITV.

"Jack's (Grealish) first goal, Tammy, Prowsey (Ward-Prowse), Bukayo (Saka) - they are all players who haven't scored that often for England so it's a special moment for all of them.

"It was a very specific challenge, a low packed defence and we picked a team with players in it who could take that challenge on. You saw that with the link play in midfield especially."
