After a long club season for most players around Europe, Euro 2024 is looming on the horizon. The tournament kicks off on June 14 and will last for a full month, wrapping up on July 14 in Berlin. For many Liverpool fans, the international game isn't high on the list of priorities, with more in-tune to the club game.

Liverpool naturally, as one of the biggest clubs in the world, will have several players going to represent their countries at the tournament. In fact, Liverpool could have as many as a 11 players potentially featuring in the competition, making it interesting from a fan perspective.

One of those who could be at the tournament is Reds' defender Jarell Quansah, after the Englishman had a magnificent season at club level.

Quansah made the most of the injury crisis in the middle of the season to grab his chance in the heart of the Liverpool defence. Injuries to Ibrahima Konaté and Joël Matip saw the 21-year-old take his opportunities. By the end of the season, Quansah had made some 33 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions.

His form has now seen him make Gareth Southgate's provisional squad for England at Euro 2024, along with Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones. Speaking about Quansah and his development this season, Southgate commented on why he decided to call the youngster up to the provisional squad.

“Jarrell had a super season for Liverpool,” stated Southgate. “You have only got to see the games which his manager picked him for, he was in the team and a couple of other high profile players weren’t in that position.

“That was a sign of how well Jürgen [Klopp] thought he was doing. He has had an amazing transition this season from a loan spell further down the leagues, and adapted to life in the Premier League well. He has some great attributes as a centre-back so we are looking forward to seeing him.”

Other Liverpool players who are going to Euro 2024 include Dutch trio Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch, Konaté for France, Dominik Szoboszlai for Hungary and Scottish duo Andy Robertson and Ben Doak, who surprisingly got the call despite hardly playing for most of the season for Liverpool due to injury.

With Matip set to leave Liverpool this summer, Quansah could very well see even more games for the club next summer.

Liverpool.com says: Quansah may eventually get cut from Southgate's squad for the tournament, but the fact that he's even made it that far in such a short period of time is testament to his improvement over the past 12 months. If he continues as is, he will undoubtedly be on the plane for the 2026 World Cup.
