Gary Lineker makes his David Moyes views clear as new favourite for Leicester City job emerges
Gary Lineker has delivered his verdict on a David Moyes appointment at Leicester City as the Scotsman’s odds on replacing Steve Cooper at the King Power Stadium shorten.
Graham Potter had been considered the big favourite to replace Cooper, who was sacked on Sunday. However, SkyBet are now reporting that Moyes is the main man in the betting at odds of 6/4, while Potters is marginally further back on 2/1. Next comes Manchester United legend and recent Old Trafford interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy (5/2), followed by West Brom’s Carlos Corberan (12/1).
Lineker, the former Leicester City player and Match of the Day presenter, discussed the sacking and Cooper’s potential replacement on his The Rest Is Football podcast.

He said: "I have got no insight into who might come in and take his place now, but I'd be almost astonished if they haven't got someone in mind.
“The first rumour I heard was David Moyes, which I think would be a safe pair of hands. He's been around the block and I think that would probably be a safe appointment.
"If you look elsewhere, I think you have someone like [Graham] Potter, possibly. He's been doing the media rounds, which suggests he wants to get back into the game. I would go with Lee Carsley. I think he has something. So if it was down to me, which it is categorically not, I would say someone like that, if they don't go down the tried and trusted, experienced, route like David Moyes.
"Changing coaches halfway through the season, particularly coaches with a different style... they've had a big change from Maresca to Cooper. It's concerning, it's a worry, but hopefully they make a good appointment and he makes a difference. I do feel for Steve Cooper."
Moyes has been out of work since leaving West Ham in the summer, but has recently been linked with a return to Everton where Sean Dyche is under growing pressure ahead of a potential takeover at Goodison Park.
