Gary Rowett weighs in on 'unfair' Paul Warne 'sugar' storm as Derby County sweep aside Portsmouth
Gary Rowett felt Derby County finally got the win their recent performances deserved when they hammered Portsmouth at Pride Park last night.
The former Rams boss was on punditry duty as he watched Derby take a stranglehold on the game and never relinquish it. An early goal from Kane Wilson was followed up by an imperious Eiran Cashin header and close range effort from Ebou Adams.
Rams were more contained in the second half but managed a fourth through a Marlon Pack own goal to move safely into mid-table at the end of a productive few days.

Rams have registered two clean sheets and taken four points in what has been an ideal response to the fall-out from their defeat at Leeds. Rowett made reference to Paul Warne’s sugar-themed comments after the loss at Elland Road and felt the current boss had been too heavily criticised.
“That's a massive result, it's a massive performance as well,” Rowett told Sky Sports. “More importantly, I thought they were absolutely fantastic, Derby. We've seen in recent weeks Derby playing well in spells of games but not getting the results.
“Tonight I thought it was a complete performance on the ball, off the ball. The energy was too much for Portsmouth and they were clinical as well as we saw.
“I am pleased for him [Warne], because he got unfairly judged for some of the comments after the Leeds game. Leeds have turned over virtually every Championship side at home this season.
“Actually these are the type of games where they can show maybe where there is a little gap this year. I think last year Portsmouth were maybe a little bit better than Derby but I think Derby have shown how far they have come. Some good performances without the results but tonight everything seemed to fall for them.”
