University police will pass on their findings to the state attorney, who will decide whether to press criminal charges.

Florida starting center T.J. McCoy and his girlfriend were struck by an alleged drunk driver early Friday morning, and he remained hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries as ofFriday evening.

According to a Gainesville Police Department report obtained by CBS Sports, McCoy and his girlfriend were riding a scooter at 3 a.m. when they were struck by a 2011 Honda Civic and thrownto the ground. Both were taken to Shands Hospital.

The driver of the car,a 22-year-old woman, was arrested after fleeing the scene. Police reported damage to the car's hood and front bumper, as well as a broken windshield.

McCoy's father, Tony McCoy, a former All-American defensive lineman at Florida who played nine seasons in the NFL with the Colts and Cardinals, posted on Facebook two photos of his son in a hospital bed. Although he had a bandage on his head, he was smiling.

The elder McCoy said the hospital had called to inform him his son had been injured.

"Seems like, within minutes after we received the call, his Offensive Line coach (Brad Davis) was in the hospital with him keeping us updated," the post read.

The 6-1, 308-poundMcCoy, a redshirt freshman in 2016, started the final four games this past season.
