The Australian selector George Bailey is confident that Australia will have some good performances in the upcoming T20 World Cup and the Ashes which will end the dilemma over Justin Langer. The former Australian-opener-turned-Head Coach Langer has been under a lot of criticism after the recent T20 series loss to the West Indies and Bangladesh.

In fact, Australia haven’t had enough match time as well and they last played in the home series against India which they lost 1-2. With so many senior players opting out of the tours to West Indies and Bangladesh, it is fair to say that Australia still hasn’t played their fulls strength squad.

George Bailey Feels Australia Haven’t Played The Best Cricket In Recent Times

George Bailey defended the coach Justin Langer despite their poor performance in the last 12 months and reckoned that the team failed to do well collectively as a group instead of targeting Langer alone. He recalled the incident when Langer had put his hand up for Australia in tough times in the past and added that changes might take time to settle.

“Let’s not put this all on Justin. As a group over the last 12 months, I don’t think we’ve quite played the best cricket or as certainly as good as I think we potentially could have. JL took over at a pretty challenging period of time, and since then there’s been a lot of permutations and change happen in the group.” Bailey said

George Bailey Opines Talks On Justin Langer Will Be Erased Soon

George Bailey noted that the focus is on the upcoming T20 World Cup in UAE and the Ashes in December and credited Langer for the work he has been doing with the side. He was confident that the performances of Australia in the upcoming series will slowly fade out out the criticism on Langer as a head coach.

“The focus for us is purely down on the World Cup and the Ashes, if we perform well in those tournaments these things tend to die away a little bit. Regardless of everything that has been written, the amount of respect the JL has for both what he’s done and what he continuing to try and deal with cricket in general but with this team is huge.

“There’s no doubt I think there’s been a few challenges over the last 12 months. I don’t think this is unique to JL, I think most industries, certainly in high performance sporting organisations.” He added
