George Best's first pair of football boots are on sale - and still have his early goals painted on the side. The boots were given to Best in 1960 by his parents when he first joined youth team Cregagh Boys.

Best wrote the details of the games that he scored goals in on the sides in white paint.

He brought the boots with him when he joined Manchester United in 1961 and they are now up for sale with a guide price of 5K.

An auction, taking place on 3rd and 4th December 2024, includes several lots from world-renowned sporting legends, as well as beloved former Manchester United players Mike Duxbury and Johnny Carey, FA Cup winner George Richardson, and a Liverpool programme collection from 1892 up to 1930.

A selection of beautiful vintage rugby shirts from David Duckham from 1973 is also up for grabs.

The sale runs across two days and includes 356 lots with an estimated total value of £1.1 million.

Items from Best, which are already receiving early bids, also include a Player of the Year trophy (lot 451) worth £30,000-50,000, which was presented to Best by the Football Writers Association in 1968 following United’s European Cup Win.

David Convery, Graham Budd Auctions comments: “For British football fans there is no one quite as iconic as George Best, and the opportunity to own something that this sporting legend and World Cup winner once wore is not to be missed.
