Rugby: George Burgess hit with four-match ban

George Burgess will not be available for selection until South Sydney Rabbitohs face Brisbane Broncos again in June.

South Sydney Rabbitohs forward George Burgess has been banned for four NRL matches after pleading guilty to a shoulder charge on Brisbane Broncos playmaker Anthony Milford.

England international Burgess missed two games after accepting a suspension for striking last month and now faces another spell on the sidelines.

Burgess took Milford out off the ball during the second half of his side's 25-24 home defeat to the Broncos on Friday and has taken an early guilty plea.

The 25-year-old will now be unavailable until the Rabbitohs face Wayne Bennett's men again on June 9, missing the clashes with Manly Sea Eagles, Wests Tigers, Melbourne Storm and Parramatta Eels.

Souths are down in 12th in the ladder with just three wins from their first eight games.
