Georges St-Pierre Ready for UFC Return After Test Training Camp

Georges St-Pierre Raises Doubt About Defending UFC Belt

Georges St-Pierre stepped away from fighting after his ninth title defense at UFC 167 in November 2013. After nearly three years out of competition,”Rush” says that he's ready to return to fighting after undergoing a test training camp.

“I did a training camp to see where I’m at because I’ve been training, but being in shape and being in fighting shape is something different. I did a training camp to push myself and go back to the highest level of competition. I didn’t fight, but I put myself through a training camp, and I sparred and everything, and I did it successful,” St-Pierre told The MMA Hour on Monday.

“Now I know for sure that I could go back and fight if my management and the UFC get to an agreement,” added the Canadian.

When asked if he wanted to return to active competition, St-Pierre responded, “yes.”

“I always said that I would come back for something big, something that gives me the chill, something that makes me excited,” he said.

“I'm ready,” he added. “I still feel that I'm at my best right now. The clock is running. I'm not getting any younger. I'm in my peak of my career, and if there is a shot, another goal, another run, I better do it and do it quick because it's time to do it now.”
