Geri Horner: I Was Immature To Ditch Spice Girls

Remember how we felt when Zayn Malik quit One Direction? That’s what it was like when Ginger Spice turned her back on the world famous girl group in 1998… but she’s finally admitted she was wrong.

The 44-year-old singer shocked fans around the world when she revealed she’d had enough and sensationally walked away from her bandmates Mel B, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham and Mel C and the Spice GIrls in the middle of their Spiceworld European tour.

But she’s claimed she felt she had no choice because the girls were getting on her “nerves” and she didn’t no how to communicate her feelings.

She admitted on Oprah: Where Are They Now?: “There was a moment I decided to leave the band. I felt like it grown into this huge monster, bigger than the individuals, bigger than the band itself.”

She added: "Obviously there was bit of a ruction in the band and I was like, ‘I just don’t want to do this anymore.’

It was like, 'You’re getting on my nerves and I don’t know how to talk this through, so I’m out of here.’ It was quite immature, looking back.”

Geri’s 1999 debut solo album Schizophonic was also a “f**k you” to the world.

She said: “I used all that sort an 'F-you’ and all that creativity, a bit of hurt and poured it into a solo album.“

During her Oprah appearance she bigged up her bandmade Mel B and along with Emma, the trio are expected to perform a one-off show in London’s Hyde Park next July to celebrate the band’s 20th anniversary but Mel C and Victoria didn’t fancy a reunion.

Speaking about the Spice Girls’ one-off performance ceremony during their Olympics performance in 2012, she said: "Mel B is an absolute performer. She’s amazing! When we did the Olympics, she completely carried that. She would add something that was so bizarre and brilliant.”
