Germany close on Super League triumph

Despite being defeated at the Olympics, the German jumping team can clinch victory in the Super League 2012 circuit.

And in Dublin they will be presented with the prize for the second consecutive year as the Royal Dublin Society welcomes the stars of the discipline.

Switzerland will present its new Olympic champion Steve Guerdat, while the team gold medalist Nick Skelton represents Great Britain.

Jur Vrieling and Marc Houtzager (team silver) defend Netherlands’ colours and the Irish crowd can cheer for Cian O’Connor, just crowned with individual bronze.

The highlight is the last Nations Cup of the season with only 3.5 points separating the last six nations. Title holders Germany are in the lead with 10 extra points over France.

But Great Britain, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, Ireland and Belgium stand in a handkerchief and none of them is ready to lag behind upon conclusion of the circuit.

Last year, Britain defeated Ireland after the jump off, thanks to Nick Skelton and team.

After the show he produced in the Olympics Games, the 54-year-old rider will surely get the support he deserves in Ballsbridge.
