Too often we're inundated with stories of footballers spending £50k on nights out, living in lavish mansions and driving the latest sports cars.

So for once, it's quite nice to hear of a footballer suffering due to their own stupidity. Step forward, Max Kruse.

The German this week has been removed from the national squad by manager Joachim Low, after the forward left a bag containing €75k worth of poker winnings in the bag of a taxi.

This didn't go down too well with his club, who fined him €20k, leaving him about £80k worse off.

If that wasn't enough, he was photographed at a nightclub snatching a phone off a woman who tried to take his picture.

That wasn't the end of it. Wolfsburg director  Klaus Allofs recently confronted Kruse over his unhealthy addiction to Nutella,  publicly  slating him for his habit of scoffing the hazelnut spread.

If you think you're having a bad week, just think - it could probably be worse!
