Charlie Allen, Myles Weston, Chris Whelpdale and Danny Kedwell all netted for the hosts as they find themselves six points clear of Port Vale in second place, who have a game in hand.

Cheltenham were also victorious as Kaid Mohamed and Marlon Pack were on target for the visitors, with Byron Harrison’s goal proving insufficient for AFC Wimbledon at The Fans’ Stadium.

Fleetwood Town lost ground as they were beaten 1-0 by Wycombe at Highbury Stadium, with Bruno Andrade on target for the visitors.

Burton Albion were unable to narrow the gap on the leaders as they shared a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers at the Pirelli Stadium as Billy Kee equalised after David Clarkson’s opener.

Rochdale lost 2-1 to Morecambe as a brace from Jack Redshaw gave the visitors the points at Spotland Stadium, while Northampton downed Exeter with a 3-0 home win.

Bradford also had to settle for a point as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to York City, but Torquay made ground on the top six with a 3-1 win over Accrington at Plainmoor.

Southend recorded a very fine 3-0 win away at Rotherham as Britt Assombalonga netted a brace.

Meanwhile, Dagenham and Redbridge beat Chesterfield 2-1 thanks to a brace from Sam Williams, and Plymouth beat bottom-of-the-table Barnet 4-1 at Underhill to put pressure on the places above them.
