Giorgi Mamardashvili moment vs Chelsea star raises Liverpool signing concerns
Incoming Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili was left red faced on Friday night after being beaten from distance for Georgia by Chelsea ace Mykhailo Mudryk.
Facing off in the Nations League, Georgia took on Ukraine at the Poznan Stadium with Mamardashvili between the sticks for the former. The contest finished 1-0 to Ukraine, with Mudryk scoring the only goal of the game.
Collecting a loose ball on the left-wing, Mudryk cut inside, taking a few touches before finding himself on the edge of the Georgian box. From there, the Chelsea winger unfurled a low strike from range that ended up beating Mamardashvili.

It looked to be a fairly routine save that a top goalkeeper should make - something which could be a cause for concern for Liverpool supporters.
However, if you were being kind to Mamardashvili, replays clearly show the ball takes a bounce off the ground at the Poznan Stadium, leading it to skip past the incoming Reds goalkeeper's right arm. Clearly, with Liverpool having forked out $39m (£29m/€35m) for the Valencia shot stopper, they view Mamardashvili as someone who could serve as Alisson's long-term successor.
The 24-year-old impressed this past summer at the European Championships in Germany, prompting Liverpool to make him their first signing of the Arne Slot era back in August.
But, with Liverpool already boasting two excellent goalkeepers in Alisson and Republic of Ireland international Caoimhin Kelleher, the decision was made by the Reds and Mamardashvili for the Georgian to remain with Valencia for the 2024/25 campaign.
Liverpool.com says: While it's only one goal, Liverpool supporters might be a bit concerned with just how easily Mamardashvili was beaten from distance by Mudryk. In the long run, it'll probably be no big deal but you'd rather see the Georgian stopper, who looks to be the front runner as Alisson's successor, save those shots.
