Giovanni van Bronckhorst has told Rangers fans what to expect from proposed new signing Antonio Colak, who looks set to join up with the squad “really soon”.
A fee believed to be an initial £1.8million plus add-ons has been agreed with Greek side PAOK and it’s believed the 28-year-old is travelling to Glasgow for a medical.
The Croatian is expected to become van Bronckhorst’s second summer signing after John Souttar.
The Dutchman has revealed that the deal is very close, with most of the groundwork done.
Colak actually knocked Gers out of the Champions League last season with a brace for Malmo, while on loan at the Swedish outfit.
And Van Bronckhorst expects him to make a strong impression at Rangers.
He told Sky Sports: “We’re very close with him. We’ve worked hard to get him on board so hopefully he will join us really soon and give us some extra options up front.
“I think he’s shown in the teams he played for he can score goals. He’s a very good striker.
“He did us a lot of damage at the beginning of last season and showed his quality.
“It’s a new season ahead and we want to be successful in all the competitions we play.
“We have to have a squad to be able to do that so we’re more than happy he will join us really soon.”
Van Bronckhorst expects more Rangers signings
While a lot has been made of the club’s lack of new faces through the door, van Brockhorst claims more incomings are expected.
He added: “We still expect some new players coming in.
“When the new season starts we have Champions League qualifiers so August is going to be a really important month, so we have to be ready.
“Being at Rangers comes with expectations, it’s what we all feel and we are all working hard to achieve those ambitions.”
