Gordon Strachan has singled out the burning desire for Hibernian fans as he questions the Black Knight group’s investment strategy.

The Hibees are having a torrid time of it in the Scottish Premiership right now, with only one win in 12 top-flight matches, they currently sit rock bottom of the table, one point adrift of city rivals Hearts. Head coach David Gray recently received the backing of the board as the club legend was given time to turn it around.

However, Strachan reckons the investment plans of the Black Knight group run against what the club and fans truly want. Bournemouth owner Bill Foley, though his Black Knights group, has a 25% stake in the club and they recently indicated they did not agree with the initial appointment of Gray to the head coach position. Strachan, however, says it’s all about fostering a community spirit around the club and getting one over Hearts, as opposed to developing players and coaches for the south coast club.

Speaking on The Warm-Up Unfiltered, the former Celtic and Scotland manager said: “If you want complete control of the club, buy it. Don’t give me 25% then start to tell us what we’re doing because there are two different things going on here.

“Bournemouth probably send players up there and generate money for the players. What do the Hibs want to do? Hibs want to make a good team for the community, their fans, and stay in the league. So there's maybe a conflict when you get these set-ups with teams.

“One wants to develop the players, one wants to send their coaches up, but the other one is [wanting to] keep their fans happy. Here's what Hibs want to do [too], be better than Hearts, simple as that and Hearts want to be better than Hibs.

“So if you say to them [Hearts], what do you want to do in life? We want to be better than Hibs. That's as simple as that. You know, so if you're only paying 25% of the share, please don't… if you really want to have the say, buy 70%, then you have a say.”
