Gossip: Manchester City 'eye Brazil defender', Manchester United 'keen on romantic return' and more

A number of Brazil left backs could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window, but will Manchester City get their man?
A number of Brazil left backs could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window, but will Manchester City get their man?

Death, taxes and Alex Sandro being linked with a move to England.

With another of the three certainties coming to the fore this week, it serves as a reminder that the January transfer window is not nearly as far away as it feels.

The 27-year-old Brazilian is once more being tempted by a move to England, having won the double three times in as many seasons with Juventus.

And after helping the Serie A giants to a 1-0 win at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, it appears snooping eyes from the blue half of Manchester took notice.

Never mind Benjamin Mendy, City are supposedly after another left-back and Sandro could fit the bill for Pep Guardiola’s men.

In a Brazilian left-back-oriented roundabout, the move could happen as Massimiliano Allegri considers a move for Marcelo.

The Real Madrid man is said to be keen to follow Cristiano Ronaldo to Turin and, as a result, City could find themselves with even greater options.

The Manchester United & Zlatan story continues…?

Speaking of Manchester United (or, at least, we were a little further up), the Red Devils have been eyeing up another move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The imposing Sweden superstar enjoyed a two-year spell at Old Trafford when Mourinho first took the reigns, scoring 17 Premier League goals as a 35-year-old.

Amid a string of rumours suggesting the former AC Milan, Inter and Barcelona star is set for a return to Manchester, the odds on the move happening have been slashed by bookies to 7/2 in favour of the move.

That’s right. I bet you’re quivering with fear now. It’s almost certainly not happening.

Chelsea, Real Madrid, Fulham and the rest…

Chelsea could cash in on Antonio Conte’s potential move to Real Madrid to replace Julen Lopetegui, with certain outlets reporting they would be due £9.5million.

Real lie seventh in La Liga with just four league wins from nine games, and may move fast for the former Italy boss amid rumours Manchester United are keen on him.

What a mess.

Elsewhere, England’s third-choice goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli is set to be punished rewarded with a new deal at Fulham.

Despite the tidal wave of goals going in at Craven Cottage (and just about everywhere else they play), the stopper is set to pen new terms after being reinstated to the team and temporarily captaining the side.

I’m sure there’s a pun here somewhere for ‘in his defence’, but i’ll leave that one to the readers.
