Gossip: Tottenham 'ready to sell Dembele', Man Utd 'put Pogba on transfer list', Iniesta 'moves to China for wine'

Mousa Dembele, Andres Iniesta and Paul Pogba could be on their way out of their clubs, according to reports.
Mousa Dembele, Andres Iniesta and Paul Pogba could be on their way out of their clubs, according to reports.

Tottenham fans will bore you to tears with the detail in which they can explain how and why Mousa Dembele is the best midfielder in the Premier League, and possibly the world, but it seems the club hierarchy don’t share their view. Spurs are reportedly “ready to sell” the Belgian this summer and have already started lining up a replacement.

The Mirror reports that the north Londoners will “listen to an acceptable offer” for the 30-year-old, and it might not be an offer befitting the world’s best midfielder. Dembele will have just a year left on his contract at the end of this season and could move in a “cut-price deal”.

He has brought this upon himself really. The former Fulham man has apparently refused to discuss a new White Hart Lane deal until after the World Cup, presumably because he is confident of proving he is the world’s best midfielder in Russia and subsequently earning a move to Real Madrid.

At this point, however, his most likely destination appears to be China, where one fears he is unlikely to enhance his claim as the world’s best midfielder.

Anyway, Spurs don’t care – they are already targeting Atalanta’s Bryan Cristante and Barcelona’s Andre Gomes as Dembele’s heirs in the centre of the park.

Mourinho puts Pogba up for sale

Paul Pogba was supposed to be blossoming into the world’s best midfielder about now. Instead he is a Manchester United outcast who the club are reportedly prepared to sell imminently.

The Mail claims Jose Mourinho has “run out of patience” with the Frenchman and has included him on a “list of players who can be sold” this summer.

Others on Jose’s list of shame are “Anthony Martial, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind”. No mention of Luke Shaw though. Maybe he’s on a separate list of “players who can be thrown into the sea”.

A potential replacement for Pogs at Old Trafford is Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, whose name I have just typed for the first time without cutting and pasting it.

The 23-year-old Serbian was reportedly watched by Red Devils scouts during the Italian side’s Europa League match against Red Bull Salzburg on Thursday, although they can’t have been too impressed because Lazio got spanked 4-1 (Mail).

A man who really was the world’s best midfielder once, Andres Iniesta, is set to end his illustrious career in slightly underwhelming fashion by moving to China for wine.

Marca claims the main reason the Barcelona legend is quitting the Nou Camp for the Far East is because the transfer includes an agreement for his company, Bodega Iniesta, to sell two million bottles of its finest plonk to the “gigantic Chinese market”. Presumably he will also play some football out there on the side.
