Gossip: Zidane 'asked to wait for United job' despite vote of confidence in Mourinho
For a change, Manchester United make the headlines. Less sarcastically, the change is that United managed to win a game, destroying Rafael Benitez’s soul in a 3-2 win, crowned by an injury-time winner from Alexis Sanchez.
The win warmed the heart of many United fans, and left Jose Mourinho in a more bullish mood than of late, but that hasn’t ended speculation over his future.
The Sunday Mirror believe that his exit remains more a matter of when than if, as United have been in contact with Zinedine Zidane to ask him to turn down any offers of employment elsewhere, as they decide what to do with Mourinho.
The paper says elsewhere that United will have to cough up £29 million in order to get rid of the Portuguese manager now, which is a testament to how well Ed Woodward has managed the club in his time in charge.

Elsewhere, The Times report that Mourinho received a pre-match vote of confidence from Woodward via SMS, meaning they are the only people left in the world not using WhatsApp.
And in the last of the United round-up, The Mail on Sunday say that Paul Pogba has been told he will not be allowed out of his glass cage of emotion in January, and will have to sit tight until at least the summer.
Zlatan could be back at AC Milan
Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his name at Juventus, but he was possibly most popular when he was at AC Milan. He left along with Thiago Silva to join Paris Saint-Germain, with the money on offer just too good to turn down for players and club alike.
Since then, he has spent a year and a bit at Manchester United before recovering from a dreadful knee injury in his time in America. He has scored 20 goals already for LA Galaxy, and is in excellent form.
That has led struggling Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso to identify Ibrahimovic as the man to breathe new life into his side, and the 37-year-old is willing to consider a return to Serie A, according to The Sun.
The only thing to consider is if Ibrahimovic will be able to adjust to the slow pace of Italian football after the physicality of the MLS.
Manchester City chase Ndombele
Manchester City are ready to continue their efforts to buy every player in the world after they turned their attention to Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, the Sunday Star believes.
Ndombele was one of the best players on the pitch as Lyon embarrassed City 2-1 at home earlier in the season in the Champions League, and it seems to have impressed Pep Guardiola.
The 21-year-old was already on City’s shopping list before they decided to chase Jorginho for most of the summer before Chelsea bought him, simply by agreeing a fee with Napoli instead of endlessly waiting for a deal to go through.
