ALASTAIR Gray insists his shares singles success with Ryan Peniston will not lessen their determination to do well in the doubles at Wimbledon.

The future house-mtaes – who both won well individually in the first round on Tuesday – will combine for a clash against Joran Vliegen and Jackson Withrow on court number 10.

But Gray says the close friends remain eager to taste victory together.

“We're going to try to win the doubles match,” said Gray.

“That's basically what we're going to do and I'm really looking forward to playing.

“I love playing doubles with Ryan and we're going to have good fun out there.

“When we step on the court, we're going to try and win, 100 per cent.”

Great Wakering’s Peniston saw off Switzerland’s Henri Laaksonen in the first round before Gray also beat Tseng Chun-hsin in straight sets.

And the training partners have been playing doubles events to warm up for Wimbledon.

“We played at Surbiton together, then we played at Nottingham as well,” said Gray.

“To be honest most of our practices are around singles but we enjoy the doubles.

“Ryan and I are great friends and training partners.

“We have the same coach so to be going through this with him is just amazing.”

The duo – who are coached by Mark Taylor – also have extra determination to do well as they are currently looking for a place to live.

And extra prize money will increase what they can afford!

“We were thinking about renting but something around this area would probably be a bit of a box,” smiles Gray.

“Hopefully win a couple matches then maybe we'll be able to get something a little bit bigger.”
