The upcoming series of Great British Bake Off has finished filming, it has been confirmed.

While shooting typically takes place in spring for a late August air date it had to be postponed due to the coronavirus.

A tweet from the programme's official account shared the news on Wednesday afternoon. It read: "Filming has wrapped on the new series of The Great British Bake Off. More news soon..."

It was revealed back in July that filming for the 11th series of the competition was underway.

According to Deadline, the cast and crew quarantined beforehand so that they could interact when shooting started.

Jane Millichip of Sky Studios, the parent company of Love Productions which makes the show, teased the series was “all happening in deep secret, somewhere in darkest deepest Britain in the shires”.

The contestant line-up for the series has not yet been revealed nor has a release date been announced.

However, there will be a change to the presenting team as earlier this year it was announced that Sandi Toksvig would be replaced by Matt Lucas.

Back in March, Lucas said of his new role: "I’m chuffed to bits to be joining the most delicious show on television. I can’t wait to break bread with Noel, Prue and Paul and meet the brilliant bakers.

“And bearing in mind my love of cake, I’ve already ordered some much larger trousers in anticipation."

Noel Fielding is expected to be back hosting as usual alongside judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.
