Green Day have burst back onto the music scene with the announcement of a UK and European tour, a new album and the release of new songs. The modest UK leg of ‘The Saviours’ world tour includes a date at Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford Cricket ground.
It’s been a few years since Green Day last toured in the UK. The 2017 ‘Revolution Radio’ tour was the last time fans were able to catch a glimpse.
On that occasion, Green Day played at the Manchester Arena and treated fans to a mammoth 29-song set with not one, but two encores. The set was filled with many of the band’s classics, including ‘American Idiot’, ‘Jesus of Suburbia’ and ‘Minority’.
Green Day last played at the cricket ground back in June 2010. This was part of the ‘21st Century Breakdown’ tour. They have performed in Manchester a total of 12 times.
On six of these occasions, they have played at the Manchester Arena under its various names over the years. Twice they have taken to the stage at Old Trafford cricket ground and they have one appearance each at Boardwalk and Manchester Apollo.
Tickets to see Green Day at Emirates Old Trafford in 2024 go on pre-sale on Wednesday November 8 and general sale is on November 10.
