Green Rockets player and former NRL star Blake Ferguson has been arrested after allegedly attacking a man before being found in possession of cocaine.
Ferguson, who recently joined the Japanese rugby union side from Parramatta Eels, was involved in an altercation at a restaurant in the Roppongi area of Tokyo on Thursday.
Police were called at 6:30pm and the 31-year-old was taken to the Azabu station where he was searched and allegedly found with drugs.
According to local media, he was thought to be in possession of cocaine, with Green Rockets later confirming his arrest in a statement.
Cooperating with the police
“Blake Ferguson, a contract player belonging to NEC Green Rockets Tokatsu, was arrested on December 30 on suspicion of possessing illegal drugs,” it read.
“We deeply apologise for causing a great deal of concern and inconvenience to everyone involved.
“Our team fully cooperates with the police investigation and strives to understand the situation.”
Following 12 years in the NRL, playing for Cronulla Sharks, Canberra Raiders, Sydney Roosters and the Eels, Ferguson only recently joined the Green Rockets.
They are preparing for the new Japan Rugby League One season, which is due to kick off next Friday.
