Pascal Gross stunned Old Trafford with his first-half double.

But he urged Albion to keep feet on the ground after their 2-1 win over Manchester United.

Gross’s goals in front of the Stretford End were enough to help the Seagulls open this campaign in the sort of form they ended last.

Albion fans will hope to see their side match or even better last season’s ninth-place finish.

But Gross said: “I don’t really care about that, to be fair.

“It’s great for us to have three points but every game in this league is so tough.

“You should be humble, go game-by-game, train hard this week and have a tough game on Saturday.

“If we can get to 40 points, that’s my aim - then we go from there.”

The German midfielder arrived at the far post to finish off a Danny Welbeck pull-back and a Solly March shot which had been parried by David De Gea.

He said: “I always try to get in these positions.

“Sometimes you get the ball and sometimes not.

“But even then, you have to finish them off and I did that well today.”
