Gypsy Rose Blanchard, subject of “The Act”, separates from husband she married while in prison

Blanchard married Ryan Scott Anderson in 2022 while serving jail time for a plot to murder her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Apparently, that fire D couldn't stay aflame, as Gypsy Rose Blanchard — whose involvement in a plot to murder her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, inspired Hulu's scripted crime drama The Act — announced her separation from husband Ryan Scott Anderson.

The 32-year-old revealed the news on her private Facebook page, PEOPLE reported Friday, nearly three months after Blanchard was released early from Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri, where she served eight years of her sentence for her role in the murder plot alongside then-boyfriend Nick Godejohn.

"People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately, my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am," Blanchard reportedly wrote in a statement.

Blanchard married Anderson in July 2022, while serving her prison sentence.

Shortly after her release from jail in December 2023, Blanchard spoke out against her detractors on her since-deleted Instagram page.

“Besides, they jealous because you are rocking my world every night,” Blanchard wrote, referencing her relationship with Anderson. “Yeah I said it, the D is fire.”

Blanchard's experience with her mother received widespread media attention for its bizarre nature, as the elder Blanchard abused her daughter via Munchausen syndrome by proxy, which typically sees a caretaker inducing or embellishing elements of their dependent's ailments to garner sympathy or financial gain.

Hulu adapted the pair's story via The Act series in 2019, with Patricia Arquette winning an Emmy for her performance as Dee Dee, while Joey King was nominated for portraying Gypsy.
