Hamilton keeps victory despite misdemeanour
Lewis Hamilton was facing a punishment that might have cost him his victory in the Germany GP after the stewards summoned him to explain one of his actions.
Hamilton was on his way to change his tires in pit stop during a safety-car period to the end of the race, but changed his mind and cut across the grass verge to take pole.

According to F1 regulations, ‘crossing the line separating the pit entry and the track by a car entering the pit lane is prohibited.’
However, stewards decided that the transgression merited just a reprimand rather than a race penalty.
A famous comeback victory gave him a 17 point lead over Sebastian Vettel, who crashed out earlier in the race, is now hanging in the balance.
