Everton and Nottingham Forest have reportedly shortlisted Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury as a potential summer transfer option.

Choudhury struggled for game time under Brendan Rodgers last season. He made just six league appearances, and failed to register either a goal or assist. Now, both Forest and Everton are looking to offer Choudhury a chance to revamp his career elsewhere.

That’s according to The Mirror, who claim both clubs are looking to add Choudhury to their squad’s in time for next season.

Forest will be keen to add further Premier League experience to their side. After finishing fourth in the Championship, Forest earned a Premier League spot after beating Huddersfield 1-0 in a controversial play-off final at Wembley.

While Choudhury was inactive for most of last season, he can still provide this experience. He has made a total of 53 Premier League appearances across five seasons with Leicester City.

Aged 24, he also has plenty of time to improve his game. With just one year remaining on his contract at the King Power Stadium, he should also be available at a cut-price.

Having represented England at Under-21 level, many fans predicted Choudhury to become a major star.

However, the Leicester-born player has failed to become a constant figure in Rodgers’ side, and now seems primed for a move away.

If a deal can be arranged cheap, Choudhury could be the perfect target for Everton.

Frank Lampard’s side are in desperate need to improve their defence before the start of next season.

The Toffees conceded 66 goals from 38 games inside the Premier League – the fifth-worst defensive record in the division.

With Choudhury predominantly starring as a defensive midfielder, he could provide some much needed cover in front of the defence.

For a good price, the risk of completing the deal would also be minimal.
