Harry Kane believes Mathys Tel can "fulfil all the potential he has" following his deadline day move to Tottenham. Tel made the switch to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday evening after the Frenchman departed Bayern Munich on a loan deal until the end of the campaign.

Tel's Tottenham switch could become permanent in the summer as the agreement with the Bundesliga club contains an option to purchase. The option is for €55million (£45.7million), with a six-year contract agreed for the former Rennes man.

Kane knows all about the 19-year-old following their time playing alongside each other at Bayern. Tel's minutes have been restricted under Vincent Kompany this season but Kane feels an increase in game time in N17 could lead to a "fantastic time" for the youngster at his new home.

"It's a great move for both parties," said Tottenham's record goalscorer when speaking on Cleats Club. "Mathys is a great guy, really hard working and full of potential. It'll be important for him to get some minutes under his belt, get some regular game time and hopefully develop, keep improving and fulfil all the potential that he has.

"It's great for Tottenham to have a young, hungry player with loads of talent to hopefully score some goals and help push Tottenham as far as possible. I wish him all the best and hopefully he has a fantastic time there, I know he will. I'm sure all the fans will make him feel really welcome as well."

On Tuesday morning, Tottenham published a video to their social media channels where Tel discussed his conversation with Kane prior to joining Spurs.

"He told me this is a big club with a lot of very good people," said the ex-Rennes man. "The pitch is very nice. The training centre is very good. And if you go there, you can enjoy it. So everything was positive from Harry Kane."

In a further interview with SPURSPLAY, the French youngster opened up further on his Tottenham transfer and why he chose a move to Ange Postecoglou's side.

"I'm very excited to play with my teammates and for the fans. It's a new challenge for me, a new chapter to open and I'm very excited about it," he explained.

"Why I chose Tottenham? Because it was the best option for me. What was important for me was I felt the commitment. I spoke with the president, talked with the manager. I'm young, I need to grow up and that was for me the best option and now I'm very, very happy.

"I think I'm a physical player, fast, technical and I play every moment and every game with my heart. I live with this pressure. I always have to push myself to go up and look forward. Football is always a dream for me to play in the first team, for the best in the world.

"I'm ready for every game, that's why I'm here and I know what I have to do for Tottenham, for the team and for the fans. I know what I have to do and that's what I hope I'm going to do."
