Harry Kane: Euros Final penalty loss ‘worst feeling in the world’ but England squad ‘hold their heads up high’

England captain Harry Kane says losing Euro 2020 on penalties is the "worst feeling in the world" but the squad will "hold our heads up high."

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka all missed from the spot as Italy won 3-2 on spot kicks at Wembley after a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes.

It was a wild ride to England's first major tournament finale in 55 years, uniting the country throughout the four weeks.

Kane says the run to the final has given the squad even more motivation ahead of next winter's World Cup.

"[We] couldn’t have given more, boys couldn’t have give more," he told BBC. "Pens are the worst feeling in the world when you lose.

"We had a fantastic tournament we should hold our heads up high. It’s going to hurt, but we’re progressing and we can build on this next year. The boys did everything they could, it just wasn’t our night."

He added: "You’ve got to hold your heads up high. Fantastic tournament. Anyone can miss a penalty. You win together, lose together.

"It will give us more motivation to do more in the World Cup next year. We should be extremely proud as a group of what we have achieved.
